Digital Literacy: Learning to Read Photographs
An Introduction to the Civil Rights Movement
These Six Word Stories were written by 9th grade Civics students who "read" primary source photographs from the Library of Congress. They took inspiration from Ernest Hemingway's famous six word story: "Baby shoes, for sale; never worn."

- Technology Literacy- The ability to use technology (computers, smart phone, tablets, projectors, smart boards, GPS, etc.) effectively in several different ways
- Political Literacy- Knowledge and skills needed to actively participate in political matters
- Cultural Literacy- The knowledge of one's own culture
- Multicultural Literacy- The knowledge and appreciation of other cultures
- Visual Literacy- The ability to critically read images
